Welcome
Off and on for the life of the podcast, I have attempted to provide a email newsletter. However, those attempts have been short-lived and without much focus. Today’s rebranding of this to “Ready, Set, Graze!” reflects my renewed efforts to provide a valuable and useful resource for you.
Grazing Grass Farmer of the Week
This week’s Grazing Grass Farmer of the Week is Andy Youngblood of Youngblood Farm. Tune in listen where Andy shares his remarkable journey from conventional farming to regenerative agriculture. Growing up in a small Arkansas town immersed in beef cattle and poultry operations, Andy's path took a transformative turn because of health issues influenced by Joel Salatin's "Salad Bar Beef" and a friend's rotational grazing techniques. What I’m Listening to
As I’ve mentioned on the podcast, I’m a recent convert to audio books and the latest audio book, I’m listening to, is D. Firth Griffith’s Stagtine. As always with Griffith’s writing, you come away with more questions than answers. He has a knack to make you see in a new light. I’m enjoying it and he is joining me for a episode in the near future. Stay tuned!
What I’m Reading
One of my spending flaws is when I see an interesting book, I think I need to buy it for further reading. However, I am able to buy books at a faster rate than I can read them. One such book that was purchased but not read was Ranching LIke a 12-Year Old by Tom Krawiec. When Tom scheduled to do an episode, its place in my reading queue was improved. It is an easy and quick read with lots of substance for how he manages time to lessen the work load, manages the grass to stay in sweet spot, among other things. I enjoyed his views and plan to incorporate some of this methods into my farm. Also, he will be on a future episode of the podcast. Stay tuned!
